Water of Leith, Edinburgh
The Water of Leith flood defence scheme runs through Conservation Areas and the Edinburgh World Heritage Site and includes a major recreational footway and cycle path that extends from the Firth of Forth through the city to the Pentland Hills. We have worked closely with the City Council and their consulting engineers on assessment and EIA for the river and headwater reservoirs and developed the hard and soft landscape proposals, including flood wall cladding, footways, cycle ways and incidental spaces. We supported the scheme at public inquiry, and have prepared production information for construction. Most recently we have worked with the public arts procurement organisation (PACE) and the preferred artist to integrate their proposals within the scheme.
